bc0c94c204 fpcdefs.inc: Set fpc_compiler_has_fixup_jmps for powerpcXX and mips CPUs.
psub.pas: Use new fpc_compiler_has_fixup_jmps conditional.
 mips/aasmcpu.pas: MIPS specific fixup_jmps function,
The insttruction distance calculation is not exact as
some pseudo-instruction can be expanded to a variable number of real instructions
real calculation would only be possible if we first
convert pseudo-instuctions to real instructions before calling fixup_jmps.

 ncgutil.pas: Revert commit r21791
 ncgcon.pas: Revert commit r21786
mips/cgcpu.pas: Partial revert of commit r21798, no need to always use A_J,
as fixup_jmps now handles out of range branches.

aee5380ae0 * merged trunk up to r20882
o support for the new codepage-aware ansistrings in the jvm branch
o empty ansistrings are now always represented by a nil pointer rather than
by an empty string, because an empty string also has a code page which
can confuse code (although this will make ansistrings harder to use
     in Java code)
o more string helpers code shared between the general and jvm rtl
o support for indexbyte/word in the jvm rtl (warning: first parameter
is an open array rather than an untyped parameter there, so
     indexchar(pcharvar^,10,0) will be equivalent to
indexchar[pcharvar^],10,0) there, which is different from what is
intended; changing it to an untyped parameter wouldn't help though)
o default() support is not yet complete
o calling fpcres is currently broken due to limitations in
sysutils.executeprocess() regarding handling unix quoting and
the compiler using the same command lines for scripts and directly
     calling external programs
o compiling the Java compiler currently requires adding ALLOW_WARNINGS=1
     to the make command line

  - add helper function getansistringdef which return a def with explicitly set codepage or cansistringtype in other case
  - change tstoreddef.createnai constructor to allow set codepage in constructor
  - don't convert string constants to rawbytestring. if string constant already has a codepage - preserve it or convert to ansistring codepage (delphi compatible)
  - don't perform string conversion from ansistring to strings with explicitly set codepage (by directive or by compiler switch) and vice versa (delphi compatible)

37aa2d8443 + full support for sets on the JVM target
o sets of enums are handled as JUEnumSet instances, others as JUBitSet
derivatives (both smallsets and varsets, to make interoperability with
     Java easier)
o special handling of set constants: these have to be constructed at run
time. In case of constants in the code, create an internal constsym to
represent them. These and regular constsyms are then aliased by an
another internal staticvarsym that is used to initialise them in the
     unit initialisation code.
o until they are constructed at run time, set constants are encoded as
constant Java strings (with the characters containing the set bits)
o hlcgobj conversion of tcginnode.pass_generate_code() for the genjumps
part (that's the only part of the generic code that's used by the JVM
     target)
o as far as explicit typecasting support is concerned, currently the
following ones are supported (both from/to setdefs): ordinal types,
enums, any other set types (whose size is the same on native targets)
o enum setdefs also emit signatures
o overloading routines for different ordinal set types, or for different
enum set types, is not supported on the JVM target

7d459cf12a * the compiler now explicitly keeps track of the minimally guaranteed
alignment for each memory reference (mantis #12137, and
    test/packages/fcl-registry/tregistry1.pp on sparc). This also
enables better code generation for packed records in many cases.
o several changes were made to the compiler to minimise the chances
of accidentally forgetting to set the alignment of memory references
    in the future:
    - reference_reset*() now has an extra alignment parameter
    - location_reset() can now only be used for non LOC_(C)REFERENCE,
use location_reset_ref() for those (split the tloc enum so the
compiler can catch errors using range checking)

9955d5b061 o patch from Sergej Gorelkin to improvement code generation for string literals
* Replaces linear search through assembler list by the hash lookup.
This considerably improves performance on large projects
(one example is winunits-jedi package, in which tcgstringconstnode.pass_generate_code
was top #1 in calltree, consuming about 12% IRefs).
  * Enables reusing memory locations for widestring constants
(and in general, the same approach may be used for any other type of constants).
  * Saves a sizeof(pointer) bytes per constant, by removing a location
which points to the string. This location is necessary for the
typed consts which may be modified, but redundant for string literals
because the language does not allow to modify string literals in any way.

f36e5411af * split cpu64bit compiler define into
a) cpu64bitaddr, which means that we are generating a compiler which
will generate code for targets with a 64 bit address space/abi
    b) cpu64bitalu, which means that we are generating a compiler which
will generate code for a cpu with support for 64 bit integer
operations (possibly running in a 32 bit address space, depending
       on the cpu64bitaddr define)
All cpus which had cpu64bit set now have both the above defines set,
and none of the 32 bit cpus have cpu64bitalu set (and none will

70c2414daa * split off sec_rodata_norel from sec_rodata, and only put constant data

is only done for darwin, and for non-pic code written using the
    -Aas assembler writer.

Most platforms also have a special section for "constant but with

Darwin (others still use plain .data sections for that, like they

a0b57eddb5 * new internal set format for big endian systems. Advantages:
* varsets ({$packset x}) are now supported on big endian targets
    * gdb now displays sets properly on big endian systems
    * cleanup of generic set code (in, include/exclude, helpers), all
based on "bitpacked array[] of 0..1" now
  * there are no helpers available yet to convert sets from the old to
the new format, because the set format will change again slightly
in the near future (so that e.g. a set of 24..31 will be stored in
1 byte), and creating two classes of set conversion helpers would
confuse things (i.e., it's not recommended to use trunk currently for
programs which load sets stored to disk by big endian programs compiled
    by previous FPC versions)
  * cross-endian compiling has been tested and still works, but one case
is not supported: compiling a compiler for a different endianess
using a starting compiler from before the current revision (so first
cycle natively, and then use the newly created compiler to create a
